Crisis Behavioral Services
BCC has 25 years’ experience managing mental health crises and providing related support and services. We work in close collaboration with the county’s Service Access Management (SAM) in providing crisis intervention for individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, suicidal or homicidal thoughts. Our crisis counselors together with SAM’s community outreach workers provide consultation and assessment to identify mental health problems and needs.
Screening, Assessment, and Diagnosis
Regular screenings are done as part of the initial evaluation for all clients enabling earlier identification of mental health and substance use disorders which translates into earlier care. Identifying possible co-occurring disorders and physical health issues at the onset of treatment enables a more holistic and individualized approach to client care. Initial evaluation includes identifying: preliminary diagnosis, referral source, reason for treatment, immediate clinical care needs related to mental health and substance use disorders, suicide risk assessment, medical care and safety assessment and veteran status.
“BCC taught me how to love myself, in return I can now give the love to my husband and daughter that they deserve. I am attending college now and hope someday to be able to work in the field to help another recovering addict the way that I was helped.”
Person-Centered and Family-Centered Treatment Planning
BCC provides individual, group and family counseling for children, adolescents and their families struggling with a variety of mental health and substance use concerns. These services are offered both in office and in the community. BCC has outpatient satellite offices at Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCUI) and in the Tulpehocken School District. Our team of dedicated and competent professional therapists will provide your daughter, son and family member with individually tailored services designed to overcome a wide range of emotional, behavioral or relationship problems – from mild to severe. Treatment planning is a collaboration between the patient, clinical team, family and other natural supports with an emphasis on the patient’s strengths, needs, desires, and preferences.

BCC ‘s physicians, CRNPs, RNs, medical assistants, wellness care managers, health navigators and clinical care coordinators all work in close collaboration to provide health screening, on-site primary care visits, and wellness supports for the patients we serve. BCC offers easy access to physical health care and enables our team of wellness and medical professionals to work with our behavioral health specialists in one location. It allows for a supportive environment to address possible physical health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and obesity – all of which can complicate mental health and substance use disorders. As a result, you will experience the benefits of holistic, integrated care.
“I especially liked group therapy which was an opportunity to receive and provide feedback. I learned many of us (with addiction problems) have the same experiences. Group therapy helped my confront those issues and live life more realistically.”
Targeted Case Management Services
Our team of devoted case managers can assist clients in sustaining their recovery and gaining access to needed medical, social, legal, educational and other services and supports. Case managers serve an essential role as lead advocates for clients assisting in navigating the complex array of community services.
Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services
BCC has board-certified child and adult psychiatrists, telepsychiatrists, and CRNP providers who are available to evaluate and, if needed, provided medication support. Our psychiatric providers work closely and collaboratively with the BCC Clinical Team.
Peer Supports, Peer Counseling And Family Caregiver Supports
BCC peer support specialists are persons in their own recovery from mental health disorders who are playing a key role in many of our programs sharing hope, vision, and their stories of recovery. Peer specialists are key staff for our Decision Support Center, which promotes patient self-management and shared decision-making.
